At the ICA conference in the year when Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann had died (March 25, 2010) Yariv Tsfati (Haifa University) and myself organized a session “Remembering Elisabeth Noelle Neumann” at the ICA conference in Singapore. During that session Charles Salmon (then dean of the Department of Communication at Michigan State University, now at NTU Singapore) came up to us and suggested a joint publication on the scientific outcome of Elisabeth’ main contribution to the field, i.e. the spiral-of-silence theory. It took us just abit more than three years to accomplish this plan. The book is out. For more details look here
